Canyon Lake

Location: Canyon Lake is in the Phoenix area, E of Mesa near Apache Junction.

From Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa., proceed east on Superstition Freeway (US 60) to Apache Junction - Idaho Road (Rt 88) exit. Turn left (north) and follow the signs to Canyon Lake.

The best areas for launching and sailing seem to be near the first day-picnic area on the left as you get to the lake.

The parking lot is close to the water; sandy, with some large rocks.

Be aware that there are numerous power boats and jetskis in the area, expecially on the weekends.

There is a daily 'parking fee' of $4 plus a $2 Watercraft fee. This is National Forest, so Golden Age Passport is half price. There are also annual passes available.
